SIER 2015 Kicks Off at ASE

The Summer Institute for Economic Research (SIER) kicked off today at ASE with a session lead by Abhit Bhandari, a Ph.D. student in Columbia University (New York, USA). Bhandari will be teaching a two-day course on GIS which include topics like Introduction to R, Foundations of GIS and Spatial Econometrics. Over 15 students from outside Benin (Canada, USA, Senegal, Kenya, Burkina Faso and Cameroon) along with Beninese participants and ASE students will participate this first week of the Summer Institute. Panelists presenting research papers during the second week of the program are also expected to join the group.

The Summer Institute for Economic Research (SIER) is co-sponsored by the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) and aims to contribute to the establishment of networks of collaborative, multidisciplinary research and policy engagement involving African academics and policy makers.
