At the African School of Economics, there is a pride and value on the high quality education and sector-specific experiences that students receive during their degree programs. However, the success of the African School of Economics goes beyond the degree program experiences and into the workplace post-graduation.

Data from the first two promotions show that on average 83.52% of students were placed into relevant masters, pre-doctorate, or doctorate programs or found jobs in the national or international job markets.

A number of these students have been placed into doctoral programs at prestigious universities such as Princeton University, New York University, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Ottawa, and others.  From the most recent cohort of graduates (Class of 2017) alone, students have gone on to get jobs with such national and international organizations as the Ghana Ministry of Education, Institut National de Recherche Agricole du Benin (INRAB), Medical Care Development, Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) Côte d’Ivoire, IPA Mali, Laboratoire Citoyenneté, and more.

ASE’s student placement per cohort

The high placement rate is not only a testament to the strength of ASE’s programs, but also to the network of bright, dedicated, and dynamic young people working in economics and African development globally. These recent graduates stay involved in the ASE community and continue to give back with their time, knowledge, and experiences. For example, Patrice Yedomiffi (class of 2016) traveled back from the University of Illinois to present at the 2018 Africa Meeting for the Econometrics Society on opportunities and challenges of economics education in Africa.

Even as  graduates continue to work and study both nationally and internationally, ASE itself offers ever-expanding opportunities and partnerships, such as the new Undergraduate program and partnership with University of Ottawa for a 2+2 degree program.
