The African School of Economics had the privilege to be invited to participate in The Day of the United Nations alongside other organizations invested in development and international collaboration in Benin. The event celebrates the entry into force of the United Nations in 1945 and was held in Cotonou at Canal Olympia Wologuede on October 24th. On this day in 1945 the majority of signatories ratified the founding document and the UN Charter officially came into being. The Day of the United Nations is observed annually around the world in order to celebrate and announce to all the aims and achievements of the United Nations Organization.

The Day of the United Nations in Benin featured a welcome from the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Benin, Siaka Coulibaly, a short documentary film on the accomplishments of the UN in Benin, and a message from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The anniversary celebration assembled a large and diverse array of organizations and created space for them to connect on their work.
