The African School of Economics (ASE) continues to grow its diverse international partnerships with prestigious research institutions. In December 2022, ASE formalized a partnership with The Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon (ENS de Lyon) to foster the academic, research and educational exchange between the two institutions. The memorandum of understanding states the agreement will last 5 years with the possibility of renewal.

ENS de Lyon is a public research university located in Lyon, France that trains researchers, academics, senior civil servants and political leaders. ENS de Lyon is one of 4 major public research centers in France, and has been training elite researchers since the 19th century. Students conduct research in both the sciences and humanities, while also having an additional focus on educational research.

Through the partnership, the two institutions will collaborate on student exchange programs, faculty exchanges, and the transfer of academic materials and knowledge products. Another key component is facilitating joint research, allowing the research to build upon the unique strengths and experiences of students and staff from both schools.

The Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon shares ASE’s values of diversity, professional equality, and the importance of collaborative research across continents. ENS de Lyon is now added to a long list of partners which includes Princeton University, Laval University, Toulouse School of Economics, and the American University in Cairo. Through ASE’s extensive partnerships, ASE enriches the experiences of its students and expands global knowledge production.
