Lucie ASSONFACK KANA presents the fifth installment of weekly video workshops.

The author of her presentation was Angus Deaton, a Nobel Prize-winning economist who is well-known for his analysis of poverty, consumption and welfare. One of his prominent quotes in the video presentation was “There’s no measurement without a theory”. Lucie highlighted a number of measurements of poverty which include infant mortality and living below one dollar ($1) per day. One of Deaton’s most significant findings is that “the rich spend less on consumption as compared to the poor”.

The workshop was very interesting and participants were able to develop numerous points of views regarding the subject matter.
