Ghana’s Daniel Ahelegbey kicked off this year’s Seminar Series on Tuesday September 25th, 2018. He discussed “A Bayesian Covariance Graphical And Latent Position Model For Multivariate Financial Time Series.”

The annual Seminar Series engages students in both academic research and professional seminars that feature various researchers, professors, industry professionals and local leaders. This year’s topics so far have included:

• “Applying for the 2019 YALI Mandela-Washington Fellowship: Tips from the U.S. Embassy,” with Kanishka Gangopadhyay, Director of Public Affairs for the U.S. Embassy in Cotonou, Benin; and Romaric Mouftaou, Program Specialist, U.S. Embassy Cotonou, Benin.
•  “How to Succeed a Recruitment Interview,” with Mr Couthon Paul. He is the Head of the Human Resource Department of MTN Benin.
• “Chinese Foreign Aid and Inclusive Development: Evidence from Africa,” with  Caleb Dohou, a former MMES student who graduated in 2017.
• “Can Reelection Incentives Influence the Incumbent’s Policy in the Term Limit,” with Mrs Adjitongnon Denagan.

These seminars, held biweekly, allow students to interact with key figures across academic fields and workplace environments, and to learn in an active and engaged environment. Question and Answer sessions also allow students to share their own personal experiences with obtaining hard skills, and to express their interests in various research topics.
