As a longtime partner and collaborator with Princeton University, the African School of Economics was excited to welcome Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) to our campus. ASE and SPIA co-hosted two information sessions about the master’s and doctoral programs offered at SPIA. Representing SPIA was Steven Petric, the director of Graduate Admissions. Steven, who has dynamic experience working in Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, engaged with ASE students as well as Beninese community members. The two separate presentations were held on September 20th. The first presentation for ASE students took place at the ASE campus, while the second one for community members was held at the famous Azalaï Hotel in Cotonou.

The presentation discussed student life on the beautiful Princeton campus, the master’s and doctoral programs offered, and Princeton’s generous financial aid. Much of the presentation focused on the coursework and requirements for the Master in Public Affairs and Master in Public Policy. While the Master in Public Policy is a one year program for mid-career professionals, the Master in Public Affairs is a 2 year program for those earlier in their career. Most students in the Master in Public Affairs have at least some full time work experience. Both programs offer fields of study in international development, domestic policy, international relations, and economics and public policy. The Ph.D. in Public Affairs is also offered, with concentrations in security studies and STEP (Science, Technology, or Environmental Policy).

SPIA affirmed that an applicant’s commitment to public service is the most essential attribute in the application. Applicants should emphasize what service means in their own life in order to express their own genuine story and motivation for applying.

Princeton will cover ALL the tuition and fees. In addition, there is a need-based stipend for living expenses during two years of study. The deadline for the application is DECEMBER 15, to apply click on the link below:
